    A solitaire has nowhere to hide. One stone, four to six prongs, and a band, every proportion is visible, which is why it is the hardest ring to make well and the easiest to make badly.

    Ours are set by hand with the stone checked level under light before the ring leaves the bench. The prongs are filed down to the minimum that will hold, so the stone reads larger than its measurement.

    Available in an 18K gold finish and a rhodium finish, in US sizes 5 through 8.

    Prongs are filed as fine as the setting allows, so more of the stone catches light and the ring looks bigger than the carat equivalent.

    Can a zircone solitaire pass for a diamond?
    At normal viewing distance, yes, the brilliant cut returns light in the same pattern. The difference appears under magnification and on a scale.
    Is a solitaire ring suitable for daily wear?
    Yes, provided the setting is low and the prongs are checked occasionally. Ours are set close to the band for exactly that reason.
    What ring sizes do you make solitaires in?
    US 5 (4.9 cm), 6 (5.2 cm), 7 (5.4 cm) and 8 (5.7 cm) inner circumference.
    Which finish suits Indian skin tones better?
    Warm gold flatters most Indian complexions, but rhodium reads sharper against dark clothing. If you wear both metals, buy the one that matches your existing pieces.
