    Gold plated jewellery fails for one of two reasons: the plating is too thin, or the base underneath reacts with skin. Both are fixable, and both cost money at the manufacturing stage, which is why most brands skip them.

    Our gold plating is a thick 18K finish laid over a hypoallergenic brass base and locked under an anti-tarnish seal. It is the same process used on demi-fine jewellery in Europe, and it is why our pieces do not develop the dull grey cast that flash plating gets within weeks.

    The collection runs across rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces, all in the same finish so pieces bought months apart still match.

    Thick plating

    Flash plating is measured in fractions of a micron and wears through at contact points. Ours is laid heavy enough to take daily friction.

    Anti-tarnish seal

    A clear protective layer over the gold blocks the sweat and humidity that oxidise the plating from the surface down.

    How long does gold plated jewellery last?
    Thin flash plating lasts weeks. A thick sealed 18K finish, kept away from perfume and chlorine and stored dry, holds its colour through a year or more of regular wear.
    Is gold plated jewellery worth buying?
    If the base is hypoallergenic and the finish is sealed, yes, you get the look and the wearability of gold at a fraction of the cost, and you can own more than one piece.
    Can I wear gold plated jewellery every day?
    Yes. Put it on last, after perfume and moisturiser, and take it off before showering or swimming. That single habit does most of the preservation work.
    Does gold plated jewellery cause skin allergies?
    Reactions almost always come from nickel in the base metal. Our base is nickel-free, which is what makes the pieces safe for sensitive skin.
